Personally, I'd say that while I'm technically covered, aside from something catastrophic, my insurance through my employer is pretty worthless to me. It costs me $60 per month just for me. To include my family would bump that up to $485 which I can't afford currently. On top of this sits a $5000 deductible. So we mostly pay out of pocket and hope for the best.

The vending machines at my work give and take dollar coins just fine. If you feed it a $5 bill and buy a $2 energy drink, it'll give you 3 $1 coins for change. They also have a slot to swipe a card since a lot of people don't carry cash anymore. I suspect most newer machines are made that way so you'll see more and more as time goes on.

This would be kind of like GM suing aftermarket part companies for allowing you to put a lift kit on your vehicle and change the way it handles.

It's closer to them suing the maker of the lift kits, which would be fine and dandy if everyone signed a contract saying they wouldn't when they purchase the car.
