The most important thing would could do to promote affordable housing, building of smaller and cheaper homes, and to make every worker's dollar go further is to end real estate/property taxes. Builders, banks, utilities, government, etc. have made their fortunes over the last 70 years by forcing houses to get larger and larger.

Bigger houses cost more to build, more to buy, more to heat and cool, suffer higher tax bills, and take more money to furnish and maintain. In 1950, the average home size was just under 1,000 square feet. Today, it's 2 to 2.5 times that.

It's such an obvious conflict of interest. Government places a value on homes, which it can raise whenever it wants, and decides how much you have to pay every year to prevent your home being taken away from you. Government also decides who is allowed to build houses, where the houses can be built, what size the houses have to be, how small the space between them has to be, where you can borrow money from to buy these houses, etc.

Its self-interested involvement in every aspect of home ownership, and its greed in respect to growing its power to take more and more of your money - that must be ended immediately.

SteamOS and Bazzite will continue to grow. No longer needing to also maintain a Windows device or installation will allow a lot more people to full switch to Linux.
