How many second hand fentanyl deaths have been reported? Because secondhand smoke is estimated at about 48k, or a bit under 70% of the total fentanyl deaths. Yet again, no global trade war. No upsetting of the economy. It seems like you have latched on to one single issue like a puppy who just fetched a ball and those around you need to tell you... "drop it... drop it... drooooooop iiiiiit...."

Which part of my "fraudulent straw man" was wrong? That you are willing to support a global trade war? That you are willing to risk massive inflation? That you are willing to risk the damage to both our economy and our global standing? That the total number of deaths in which you cite is 15% of annual deaths by tobacco? Or that you are willing to do it in fidelity to an orange man?

Please, inform me. Which part of that was the so called "straw man" that was fraudulent?

While you keep frothing on about fentanyl and about how it's a "crisis", there are an average of 480,000 deaths caused by cigarettes every year in the US. Just to be absolutely clear, you're willing to support a global trade war, a risk of massive inflation, and the damage both to our economy and our global standing because a talking orange convinced you that 15% of the number of cigarette deaths annually is that important?

Comment Re:What the hell was his job at Disney? (Score 4, Informative) 96

As a former Disney person, I can say that level of bonus is quite possible. The way it works is via Long Term Incentive (LTI) plans. Typically they grant fairly large amounts of stock, but it vests over several years so you only get any if you stick around. That stock also rides the roller coaster of the market, so $120k in stock can become $60k if the stock halves, or $240k if it doubles. Since the LTI's are issued every year, to get $200k, that he lost, it would only need to be about $50k per year, that vests over 4 years each, assuming no movement in the stock price. That's not out of line with other large companies that work with technology. Basically, what he's complaining about is that all the "promised" stock evaporated when he got fired, even though that would have taken years for him to actually get the amount.

Great strawman but in reality the reasons are incredibly different. Horses and carts couldn't keep up with cars which is why they started to be regulated more. Now, BEV's can usually outrun most ICE's but overall the speed capabilities are about the same. So it's harder to imagine why ICE's would be banned for the same reason. They might be banned for environmental reason, but even that seems unlikely and far off.

I have had BEV's since 2016 and I pass ICE cars easily when they decide to fire up their fart engine and sound like they have a massive penis. I still remember when some idiot in a Corvette decided that we were at a light and started revving his engine. He was in my rear view mirror almost the moment the light turned green and my wife laughed while asking, "Were you even trying?" No, I wasn't. The torque on EVs is just that awesome.

Comment Re:Chargers (Score 2) 522

Are you sure about that? L2 charges are typically 220/240V and 40-60 amps. On average they add about 24-26 miles per hour via charge. Basically, it's like adding an oven or a drier to the panel and usually not that big of a deal. Heck, even if you go with a small one like a 20-30 amp one, you're still charging at a rate of about 12-16 miles per hour (depending on the car) which if you're there for a weekend is probably 288 - 576 miles of possible range added that trip.
