Comment Re:Twitch showing they don't understand highlights (Score 1) 23

It's amazing how if you don't give people a way to search through old content effectively, or some way to browse highlights, people don't use it.

Streamers definitely made Twitch aware of this...but, I'd agree with a previous poster, in that Twitch has the actual data, and has a better idea of what is going on than viewers or streamers.

If they're streaming enough to have over 100hrs of highlights....then they're streaming enough that they have fresh content on a regular basis.

It may actually benefit smaller streamers....rather than viewers wasting time on old content, they might do more channel hopping...which could result in more subscriptions?

I dunno...Twitch is about as cancerous as TikTok.

I'm sure those with "Elon Derangement Syndrome" were just waiting to jump all over any NASA cuts, and are now (further) infuriated that they have to wait to whine about NASA/SpaceX conflicts of interest.

NASA can still "do space"....but there's really no reason for them to be in the rocketry business anymore. (figurative, not literal business...fuck off, pedants)

Fear not, whiners...the cuts will come.

He didn't make $170 billion....nobody cut him a check for $170 billion. His net worth increased by $170 billion.

That isn't cash in a bank...it's stock that he already owned, that increased in value. If he doesn't sell it...there's nothing to tax.

If he wants to make a $170 billion purchase...he will have to cash out, at which point he WILL have to pay tax on it. He's subject to the same rules we are.

Even if the current tax framework remains static....his assets will be subject to taxation someday. You should hope that his assets continue to grow until then....otherwise, by cutting him off at the knees now....you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

You're conveniently excluding things that they are intending to go after.

Plus, you idiots are acting like they'd be getting taxed on their net worth.....YOU aren't even getting taxed on your net worth. Their actual INCOME per year, and taxes generated from it...would be disappointing to you. EVEN if their tax bracket happened to be 100%.

But if you do want to do net worth taxation....then you're just back to the fact that even a 100% tax on their net worth(confiscation), would barely make a scratch in government finances.. And that'd be something you could only do once...their stock, real estate, yachts, cars, etc.... won't just magically morph back into their possession each year to satisfy your lust to punish them. And since their stock is gone....they have absolutely no motivation to continue to push their business operations forward. So....the businesses crash and burn....people lose their jobs....all that tax revenue goes away.

So......get over your jealousy....and try focusing on something that would actually make a difference. You actually have the best case scenario...because you get to milk these guys year after year...and they're able to maintain their interest in running their businesses.
