No, i didn't read the full article but by doing a fast search i could find anywhere in the text something, anything that would confirm that: Greek speakers are statistically poorer and in worse health than Germans. Why you wrote such a description?? Did YOU even read the article before posting it??

Comment Classroom education model is been here... (Score 1) 317

Classroom education model is been here since ancient Greek times and since Plato was teached by Socrates and teached Aristotle.

Is the most effective education model but only when the relationship between student-teacher is a real "love". When the student really listens to what his teacher says and when the teacher really believes in the student's potentials.

Without the parameter, love, between stundent and teacher classroom education model is just a coffee time without much sense.

Ofcourse with something like virtual learning enviroment its still the same thing, yet i dont think that the model needs reconsideration.

Thank you

Submission + - Ask Slashdot: Ergonomic Office Environment?

relyte writes: "In the spirit of the recent poll--where many people recommended ergonomic upgrades--what's the best way to get a comfortable, efficient work environment? I'm just starting my career in software development, and I already know I want a great chair, keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc. What should I get, and am I missing any categories?"

Comment experience, knowledge and skills is all you need (Score 1) 444

Off course a degree is useful on finding a job. After all a degree means education which leads to knowledge. Knowledge that may other employees on the same field and maybe in higher position might not have.

But... yep there is a but here. In my opinion workers, managers and others don’t give a sheet about degrees. A man who runs a business and also has respect for him self should know that degrees DON'T count. They need experience, knowledge and skills that should distinguish you from other employees.

You surely need a degree that will get you some general knowledge about your field of work you are interested in, say a local university. After this get to work. Do something that would guarantee your worker that you know what you are going to do for this job. Guarantee him that you are not going to disappointed him. Degrees don’t do that.

What Robots Do For Christmas 31

An anonymous reader writes "Several robotics labs in the US and Europe have decided to make themed Christmas/New Years videos. The subject was left open but in the end it should have had a) something to do with the robotics research in each lab and b) a connection to the holidays. Here's the official announcement on the IEEE Spectrum blog. The videos, including a computer-controlled quadrocopter attempting to play jingle bells on a Yamaha keyboard, are available on the Robotics Podcast YouTube channel. (Disclaimer: I made one of the videos!)"
Perl

23 Years of Culture Hacking With Perl 99

Modern Perl writes "Larry Wall, the creator of Perl, reflects on Perl's history of hacking its culture, from subverting the reductionist culture of Unix to reinventing the ideas of programming language and culture in Perl 6 and the verbal aikido used to encourage honest detractors to become valuable contributors. Perl turned 23 years old last week, and Perl 6 is available."

Legalizing Marijuana is not necessary means more users, more more people abusing, etc... first of all marijuana is not abusing you... Unlike marijuana, alcohol and tobaccos kills people and we buy them from the local store... legal... Maybe we should start thinking that if was not illegal like others things, then people would not go crazy about it... The fact that is illegal is only benefits the drugs merchants who make the hell profit out of illegal things... and goverments knows that... drugs market is the most profitable market of all... think of it... heroine is like the most cheap product you can produce... but they sell it like x10 of its original price.... hell yeah.... the right way to go with, in my opinion, is to stop any kind of bans... i mean make them all legal and start educating the kinds in school so they what is and whats not and let them decide what to do with their life in their own... and not impose them what you want them to do.......
